POSTPONED - Carriageway Resurfacing & Temporary Road Closure - A358 Minehead Road, Combe Florey 19-23 April

POSTPONED - County Highways will be resurfacing the carriageway of the A358 Minehead Road, Combe Florey, between the two railway bridges, the week after next. In order to carry out the work safely, the A358 will need to be temporarily closed. The details of the road closed times are:- Dates of temporary road closures 5 days, Monday 19th April 2021 to Friday 23rd April 2021 Times of temporary road closures 09:30 am to 3:30 pm each day

SCC - New representatives wanted for County Council

Members of the public are being invited to apply for roles on a committee which helps to shape the way Somerset County Council operates. There are currently vacancies for three co-opted members on the Council’s Constitution and Standards Committee, which helps to set standards of conduct for elected councillors, as well as helping the Council to maintain an effective, up-to-date, and legally compliant constitution. Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 23 April and interviews will be held in the week beginning 3 May. To apply for the position, you will need to email a copy of your CV and a short supporting personal statement (not more than a side of A4) stating why you think you are qualified for the role to Julia Jones, Governance Specialist – Democratic Services at jjones@somerset.gov.uk. While people may want to gather to lay flowers and pay their respects Government Covid-19 guidelines mean physical books of condolence cannot be opened in public places at the moment. Please be mindful of the current coronavirus restrictions and consider safer alternatives, such as making a donation to charity. Church services in the Benefice.

All public worship in the Benefice has been suspended for the month of January. The situation will be reviewed in early February, so look out for notices on the church board or the benefice website - quantocktowersbenefice.org There will be weekly Sunday services and a mid-week service via Zoom. As the UK lockdown continues, food banks across the country are more desperate than ever for donations. During the closure of the church, the new collection point will be The Old School.
